Sport · community · business

Building a sport means building the systems around it.

My work in disc golf grew from a simple idea: an accessible sport can become a meaningful market when the community, infrastructure, products, events, and local leadership grow together. That idea took me from player to market development, regional operations, tournament direction, and early-stage founder work.

Why disc golf

From player to market builder

I discovered disc golf in 2014. What fascinated me was how much of golf's challenge could exist in a public park with a fraction of the barriers I associated with traditional golf. I immediately thought the sport could make sense in Mexico and Latin America.

I kept returning to it whenever I could, including regular rounds at Golden Gate Park while living in San Francisco. In 2021, after discovering an active community playing in Mexico, I began playing seriously again and decided to see whether this interest could become professional work.

Instead of waiting for a job opening, I made an unsolicited video proposal: a long-term plan to help a disc-golf company develop Mexico and Latin America. That initiative eventually helped open my path into the industry and to Dynamic Discs.

The pitch that started it

In 2021 I sent this unsolicited proposal to Discmania: a five-year vision for helping develop disc golf in Mexico and Latin America. The company I eventually joined was Dynamic Discs, but this video captures the thesis and initiative that started my professional path into the sport.
